Youth Theatre Together was a national event held in Manchester for over 150 youth theatre leaders, acting as a direct response to the 2024 Youth Theatre Census. The census findings highlighted that the sector was vital for over 100,000 young people, but was under-funded and disconnected. The project aimed to define priorities for a new national development agency for youth theatre in England. My task was to design the comprehensive branding for the Youth Theatre Together event and the Youth Theatre Census docs. This included creating a family of assets for social media, digital platforms, and items such as lanyards and badges.
In collaboration with Ned Glasier, I designed a dynamic, 'network' based brand that evolved throughout the project, starting with the Census and culminating in the event. We used youthful, energising colours, inspired by campaigns like Spotify’s Unwrapped, to visually represent the connection and mapping of youth theatres across England. The project was widely successful, achieving the most comprehensive mapping of youth theatres in England historically. The clear, impactful design of the findings and subsequent supporting documents directly contributed to a clear decision from Arts Council England regarding the future direction of the industry.
