Theatre Royal Plymouth (TRP) is a key community pillar, fiercely advocating for diversity and inclusion. The annual Pride celebrations and parade began at the theatre, marking a critical opportunity to visibly share and celebrate this foundational belief. The objective was to design a highly visible glass vinyl for the theatre's main entrance. This artwork needed to outwardly display the deep-seated inclusion that TRP champions for the community.
I developed the slogan 'Pride of Plymouth' and created a simple, yet impactful, graphic. The design incorporated visual elements from the LGBTQIA+ flag, the Flag of Devon, and locally relevant motifs like the stars outside the theatre, alongside the iconic Hamilton star. This composition symbolised our role in uplifting the community. Supporting graphics, including the LGBTQIA+ flag projected onto the flytower and flown on the flagpole, amplified the message across the building. The project resulted in a highly impactful vinyl that successfully and visibly asserted TRP’s commitment to diversity and inclusion for all, providing a celebrated focal point for the Pride event.
